You may remember a certain Cameron Kuhn squashing out many a bar, club and restaurant in downtown Orlando a couple of years back (the poor Dolive building that once housed downtown favorites like Scruffy Murphy’s and Thee Grotto still sits vacant).

I’m happy to report that one of his sacrifices  (before he filed bankruptcy) is actually rising again — Orlando Improv will be back in town in spring of 2010.

Not in downtown Orlando; I guess like the Scruffy Murphy’s folks the Improv is once bitten twice shy when it comes to downtown. Can you blame them?

According to Susan Godorov, Vice President of Marketing of Centro Properties Group, the Improv will be setting up shop in the old Matrix building in Pointe Orlando. Along with Orlando Improv, Fat Fish Blue will also share the building with the comedy club.

Fat Fish Blue will host live entertainment five nights a week (what nights those are haven’t been announced) from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. and have a menu that features Louisiana-Creole cuisine and traditional American favorites. Even though they share the same building they will exist as separate spaces and businesses.

As I get more information on specific opening dates and acts I’ll let you know, in the meantime I’m happy to welcome the Orlando Improv back. It was missed in this town.
